Announcement of the Prime Minister dated 7 March 1934
[The House of Representatives acknowledged the abdication of His Majesty King Maha Prajadhipok and
resolved to enthrone His Royal Highness Prince Ananda Mahidol]

Whereas His Majesty King Maha Prajadhipok has, by the Rescript He made on 2 March, Buddhist Era 2477 (1934), at 13:45 hours (in England), abdicated the throne from that time on and the House of Representatives has acknowledged it;

Whereas the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, section 9, prescribes that succession to the throne shall be in compliance with the Palace Law on Succession, Buddhist Era 2467 (1924), and in conjunction with the approval of the House of Representatives;

Whereas His Majesty has also waived the prerogative to place any high member of the royalty on the throne pursuant to section 5 of the Palace Law on Succession, Buddhist Era 2467 (1924);

Whereas His Royal Highness Prince Ananda Mahidol is the first high member of the royal household in the line of succession as mentioned in section 9 of the Palace Law on Succession, Buddhist Era 2467 (1924);

Whereas this March 7, BE 2477 (1934), the House of Representatives has resolved to enthrone His Royal Highness Prince Ananda Mahidol by virtue of the Constitution of Siam, section 9; and

Whereas the Council of Ministers has, by the Telegraph of 7 March, BE 2477 (1934), invited His Royal Highness Prince Ananda Mahidol to succeed to the throne from the date and time of His Majesty's abdication;

Now, therefore, it is hereby announced that His Royal Highness Prince Ananda Mahidol has succeeded to the throne from the said date and time onwards.



Done this 7th Day of March, Buddhist Era 2477 (1934).
