DORSEY, Godwin Volney, physician, b. in Oxford, Ohio, 17, Nov., 1812; d. in Piqua, 15 May, 1885. He was educated at Miami university, and was graduated at the medical college of Ohio in 1836, when he settled in Piqua, Ohio. He was for many years a president of the Miami county medical society. He was an elector on the democratic presidential ticket in Ohio in 1848, a member of the Ohio constitutional conventions of 1850 and 1873, a member of the democratic national convention in 1856, and the republican national convention in 1864, state treasurer of Ohio in 1861 and 1863, chairman of the republican executive committee in 1863-'4, and supplied the place of Gov. Tod as elector at large on the republican ticket in 1868.
