Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778)

He is known as the father of modern taxonomy, and is also considered one of the fathers of modern ecology. Standard botanical author abbreviation: L. Linnaeus' corpus was written entirely in Latin and Swedish, but some works have been translated into English:
