| Federal District Court Judge (Retired) for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, served from 1988-2005. She was the director of the Federal Judicial Center in Washington, D.C. from 1999-2003. Prior to her experience as a Federal District Court Judge, she served from 1986-1988 as Judge on the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of San Francisco.
