John Jay Johns
(1818–1899)
John Jay Johns was born June 24, 1818 in Buckingham County, Virginia. John Jay Johns kept a journal for most of his life; for many years, much of it from 1860-1899 was passed around the family in typewritten form. Several more original volumes have since come to light, one in the Missouri Historical Society, and three more in the collection of Skip Johns.
