Biographical notes[edit]

Hebert's death is noted in the May 1941 copy of QST, in the editorial (p. 7). Summary of details:-

  • Full name: Arthur Aubin Hebert.
  • Born 1873-August-30 in Quebec.
  • Died 1941-April-03. (Presumably in the United States but this is not stated.)

Educated as foundry and mechanical engineer. Moved to the US at some point, working in New York and New Jersey. He used the call sign "AH" of W1ES. In 1916 he operated from Nutley, New Jersey with the special-licence call 2ZH. Hebert worked mostly as an executive in the steel industry but had some early experience as a railroad morse operator. Elected vice-president of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), and general manager of all trunk lines, in 1917. Treasurer from 1920. Travelling "fieldman" (maintaining contact with members) from 1923 to 1936. Retired from all but treasurer in 1940 due to ill health. Also treasurer and director of the American Cinema League.
