The Third Epistle of John
Chapter 1: Verse 2
A comparison of various English translations and the sources they are derived from.

Wycliffe (3 Joon)[edit]

Most dere brothir, of alle thingis Y make preyer, that thou entre, and fare welefuly, as thi soule doith welefuli.

1769 King James Version[edit]

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

American Standard Version[edit]

Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

World English Bible[edit]

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

Tyndale Bible[edit]

Wel-beloved I wisshe in all thynges thatt thou prosperedest and faredest well, even as thy soule prospereth.

The Free Bible[edit]

Beloved, above all I pray that you fare well, and are healthy, even as your soul fares well.[1]

  1. 1:2 The word used here for soul 'ψυχή' is used in other places in the epistles of John as 'life', see 1 John 3:16 (among others). Thus I'm not sure what word is better here.
