Documents which are in the public domain in South Africa because they are official texts of a legislative, administrative or legal nature, or official translations of such texts. Section 12 part (8) of the Copyright Act, 1978 provides that:
No copyright shall subsist in official texts of a legislative, administrative or legal nature, or in official translations of such texts[.]
These texts are also in the public domain in the United States because they are edicts of a government.
