Definition of Early Modern Period[edit]

The Early modern period ends in the 18th century, either around 1750 when the industrial revolution started in England or, more commonly, in 1789 when the French Revolution began. No definition of the term I have ever read or worked under has terminated at any point in the 19th century, let alone in its final year. Later modern texts (1789-) need to be recategorised into their correct place. 82.28.0.241 13:11, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's really quite arbitrary. That's what makes the entire category silly. Perhaps it should be done by reference to the current year. Eclecticology 20:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
