PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS, LONDON


Houses of Parliament or New Palace of Westminster on the Thames embankment. The edifice was designed by Sir Charles Barry and contains 1,100 rooms, including the House of Peers and the House of Commons. At the left is the Victoria Tower, 340 feet high. The Middle Tower is 300 feet high. The Clock Tower, or St. Stephen's Tower, at the leftright, contains the immense bell, “Big Ben,” which weighs thirteen tons.
