Articulation. This word is one of the most important in the musician's vocabulary. It refers equally to vocal and instrumental performance ; to words and to notes ; and includes that distinctness and accuracy of expression which gives every syllable end sound with truth and perspicuity, and forms the very foundation of pathos and grace.
