Blein, M. LE BARON, a general officer in the French engineer corps, was born about 1767. He published in Paris, in 1827, an "Expose de quelques Principes nouveaux sur l'Acoustique et la Thorie des Vibrations, etc." In 1828 he labored to reform the diatonic gamut, the mode of writing music, &c. Finally, he published, in 1832, "Principles of Melody and Harmony, deduced from the Theory of Vibrations," Paris, 8vo., with plates. His theories have been accused of fundamental errors.
