Executive Order 1147

It is hereby ordered that the following subdivisions of the public lands situated within the National Forest Reserve made by Executive Order of July 4, 1901, and enlarged May 29, 1906, and partly within the Game Preserve made by Executive Order of June 2, 1905, are hereby reserved, subject to private rights, from all manner of entry or disposition, for the additional purpose of the protection of the water supply of the military reservation of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, viz:


All of Sections 25 and 36, the east half of Section 26, and the east half of Section 35, in Township 4 North, Range 15 West, Indian Meridian; all of Sections 31 and 32, and the south half of Section 30, in Township 4 North, Range 14 West, Indian Meridian; all of Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 28, the west half of Section 10, the west half of Section 27, the west half of Section 34, the east half of Section 29, the east half of Section 33, and the southwest quarter of Section 22, in Township 3 North, Range 14 West, Indian Meridian; and all of Sections 1, 11, 12, 13, and the east half of Section 2, in Township 3 North, Range 15 West, Indian Meridian. Area about 16,420 acres.


It is further ordered that as to so much of the lands as is comprised within the said Game Preserve, the reservation for a Game Preserve shall be the dominant one, and the use of the same for military purposes shall not interfere with the object for which the said Game Preserve was established; but the use of the lands for forest purposes shall be subordinate to their use for the conservation of water for the said military reservation.
