Executive Order 1261

It is hereby ordered that the following-described portion of the military reservation of Fort Ruger, situate at Diamond Head, Island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii—all public lands comprised in which reservation were temporarily withdrawn from sale, entry, or other disposition for military purposes by Executive Order of January 18, 1906 (G. O. 21, W. D., January 27, 1906), as modified by Executive Order of July 1, 1909 (G. O. 143, W. D., July 15, 1909)—be and the same is hereby transferred to the Department of Commerce and Labor, and set aside for a light-house reservation, viz:


Beginning at a point which is 10.87 feet distant and bears N 72° 32′ 54″ W (true), from the Territorial Trig. Station Kaauau (said Trig. Station being marked by a concrete monument), the boundary line runs by true bearings and distances as follows:

  1. S 73° 05′ E, 130 feet, along the Diamond Head Road;
  2. S 87° 06′ E, 119.5 feet, along the Diamond Head Road;
  3. Due South, 290 feet, more or less, to the seashore;
  4. Westerly, along the seashore, to a point on said seashore which is distant 200 feet, more or less, and bears S 56° 02′ W, from the point of beginning;
  5. N 56° 02′ , 200 feet, more or less. to the point of beginning. Area: 2 acres, more or less.
