Pursuant to the authority conferred in the act providing a temporary government for the Danish West Indian Islands, approved March 3, 1917, it is hereby directed that the administration of the customs laws in those islands shall be under the direction and control of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, subject to the provisions of the aforesaid act, and the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby authorized to appoint a collector of customs for the Virgin Islands or to designate some one to act in that capacity.
