Español: La obra representa al rey aragonés, Alfonso V de Aragón (1416-1458), vestido con armadura de época de Carlos I de Aragón. En primer término, encima de la mesa, se presentan objetos significativos: corona (rey), yelmo (conquistador) y libro abierto (cultura). A través del ventanal se observa un paisaje con ruinas romanas, y se ha postulado que aparece el Castel Nuovo de Nápoles, residencia del rey de Aragón tras su conquista de Nápoles.

Object history El retrato fue encargado por los Jurados de la ciudad de Valencia a Juan de Juanes en 1557. Fue depositada en el Museo de Zaragoza desde el 20 de octubre de 1928 hasta el 7 de mayo de 1976 por don José Jordán de Urries, propietario de la obra en aquel entonces. En 2006, fue adquirido por el Gobierno de Aragón para el Museo de Zaragoza.
