English: This file is a fully loaded png. I saved the background color (white) and I masked off the original unaltered print -- the ink on the raw file. It has transparency enabled but I did not save the color of the background pixels. It is also uncrunched.
My usual pngs have no need for transparency so, with that toggled off in the Save options, pngs start to reduce in size. Really using the transparency, like this one does requires file space. I toggle the gui for the flat png by flattening the image briefly and saving (export) as png. The transparency yes or no toggle is confusing because of when it is needed or not -- transparency being the default. Animations and peoples early attempts to make web pages float and scroll with the images that transparency is necessary. These are the complications to be found when considering pngcrush (ing) the png here at commons. |
