PARIS P. HENDERSON was born at Liberty, Union County, Indiana, January 3, 1825. He was educated in the common schools and in 1849 came to Iowa, making his home in Warren County, where he was appointed organizing sheriff, a position he held until 1859 when lie was elected on the Republican ticket to the State Senate. He served in the regular session of 1860 and at the extra war session of 1861. He then resigned and entered the military service as captain of Company G, Tenth Iowa Infantry. On the 27th of January he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel; in February, 1863, he was promoted to colonel of the regiment and served with distinction to the close of the war. Returning to Indianola he was elected treasurer of Warren County and later mayor of Indianola.
