A Love-Song[edit]

Like sapphires are those eyes of thine,
     Thou loveliest, thou sweetest;
And oh! thrice happy is the man,
     Whom with true love thou greetest.

Thy heart, it is a diamond,
     A beauteous light it showeth,
And oh! thrice happy is the man,
     For whom with love it gloweth.

Like rubies are those lips of thine,
     So perfect in their moulding;
And oh! thrice happy is the man,
     Who's blest with their beholding.

Oh, could I find that happy man,
     As he his pathway wended,
Some day, alone, through the green wood
     His bliss would soon be ended!
