[edit] Introduction

[edit] English Translation

Workers can recite [Shema] on top of a tree or on top of a wall of stones,
which they are not permitted to do for tefillah [prayer].

[edit] Explanation

We see in Mishnah Berakhot 1:3 that the physical posture does not matter when reciting Shema (following the opinion of Beit Hillel), whereas the tefillah must be said in a standing position (cite?).
