——The fate of the Gordon Bennett Cup has now been settled by the donor, Mr James Gordon Bennett, and an end is put to those Titanic struggles amongst racing cars which the cup has brought about. Mr Gordon Bennett has now decided to offer the cup for a touring car contest, and it is stated that he will entrust the trophy to the Automobile Club of Milan, who will thus have the organisation of the race. The event will thus probably take place in Italy, and so will add another contest to the large number which will be disputed there next year. What the conditions of the new race for the Gordon Bennett trophy will be cannot be stated definitely just yet, but it is generally believed that the race will be based somewhat on the lines of the Herkomer tourist trophy held in Germany this year. There should be strenuous competition for the Gordon Bennett Cup amongst the makers and owners of tourist cars, for the trophy is perhaps the most coveted one ever put up for a contest in the automobile world.
