Born, Sterling, Illinois, March 27, 1857; graduate Drake University; married Abbie E. Stone, Vinton, Iowa, May, 1882; three children; admitted to Colorado Bar, 1890; practiced in Iowa and Nebraska until removal to Denver in 1890; organized firm of Tolles & Cobbey, which is still in existence.
