Jordan subscribed by the title of treasurer ofSamm to a deed of bishop Jocelirfs. Bishop Jocelin died 18th Nov. 1184".

Savaricus Fitz-Geldewin from this dignity was made bishop of Bath and Wells in 1192 69 .

Ranulfus was witness to several deeds of archbishop Hubert Walter, who died in the year 1205 70 .

Thomas was treasurer in 1214.

Abraham was treasurer 15th Aug. 1219 71 .

Edmund de Abbexdox held the office in 1222 72 . He becamo archbishop of Canterbury in 1233.

A held it in 1239" 3 .

Henry de Lexington held it ini24i" 4 . Dean of Lin- coln in 1245.

Robert de Karevil succeeded in 1246" 5 : held it in 1262. He died iv Non. Sept. (2nd) 1264" 6 .

Walter Sc ammel, precentor of th is cathedral and arch- deacon 0/ Berks, was possessed of it 13th Feb. 1267 "7. Dean of this church in 1274.

Nicholas de Longespe ; from this dignity he became bishop of this see in 1291" 9 .

Lewis de Bellomont or Beaumont, by this title, had the King's letters of protection dated 18th Oct. 129379. He had other letters of protection (being then beyond sea) nth Oct. 1314 80 . In 13 17 he was made bishop of Durham.
