This causes an escarpment for a long ways along the foothills, most of the way from Little Thompson Little Thompson Creek, Colorado to Big Thompson Big Thompson Creek , Colorado and probably further, the upper Niobrara being somewhat resistant, the overlying Pierre being eroded away.
