MISS CHAWORTH

"The Heiress of Anncsley" perhaps Byron's first sweetheart. Byron's uncle, whose heir he was, killed Miss Chaworth's father in a duel, one of the conditions of which was that the combatants were to be locked up together in a dark room. The uncle was afterward tried for manslaughter and found guilty, but took advantage of his position as a peer to escape the death penalty.
