CHAPTER 26.

An Act to consolidate the Enactments relating to Friendly Societies and Industrial Assurance Companies which receive Contributions and Premiums by means of Collectors.

[7th August 1896.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same, as follows :

Application of Act.1. This Act shall apply to every such —

(a) friendly society or branch, whether registered or unregistered (in this Act referred to as a collecting society) ; and

(b) person or body of persons, whether corporate or unincorporate, granting assurances on any one life for a less sum than twenty pounds (in this Act referred to as an industrial assurance company),

as receives contributions or premiums by means of collectors at a greater distance than ten miles from the registered office or principal
