PRESENTATION OF THE HEART OF THE YEAR AWARD

THE WHITE HOUSE

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 1969


PRESIDENT'S SCENARIO:


At 10:30 a. m. you and the First Lady will be escorted from your office to the east end of the Fish Room where you will be met by Dr. Walter B. Frommeyer, Jr., President of the American Heart Association.


With Dr. Frommeyer will be Dr. Paul Dudley White, this year's recipient of the Distinguished Volunteer Service Award; Dr. Irvine H. Page, this year's recipient of the Heart of the Year Award; and Mr. William F. Laporte, National Chairman of the 1969 Heart Fund.


Dr. Frommeyer first will give the Distinguished Volunteer Service Award to Mrs. Nixon with the request that she make the presentation to Dr. White on behalf of the American Heart Association. Dr. Frommeyer· then will give you the Heart of the Year Award with the request that you make the presentation to Dr. Page on behalf of the American Heart Association.


The Distinguished Volunteer Service Award (to be presented by Mrs. Nixon) is an annual award to the individual who is the "nation's outstanding Heart Fund Volunteer."


Dr. Paul Dudley White, a pioneer in cardiology, was a founder of the American Heart Association, a past President, a leading advocate of independent voluntary giving, and the single most influential spokesman for international cooperation in this field.
