SWEARING-IN-CEREMONY

THE WHITE HOUSE

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1969

PRESIDENT'S SCENARIO:

At 7:40 a.m. you will be escorted from your office to the Red Room where Justice Thurgood Marshall will be waiting. Justice Marshall will then accompany you to the East Room where a single stand-up microphone will be provided. The Army Band will play as you enter, but Honors will not be rendered. Mayor Walter Washington, Gilbert Hahn, Jr., Sterling Tucker, and Reverend Jerry Moore will be standing near the microphone.

You will make the opening remarks and then introduce Justice Marshall, who will administer the oath of office to Walter Washington.

Following the administering of the oath you will make a statement which will include the announcement of your nomination of Gilbert Hahn as Chairman of the Council, Sterling Tucker as Vice Chairman and Reverend Jerry Moore as a member of the Council.
