of silk exports in the three years 1866-68 averaged 300,000,000/. francs, or 12,000,000/., nearly one-half of which went to the United Kingdom, while of woollen fabrics the average amount exported in the same period was of the value of 75,000,000 francs, or 3,000,000/., rather more than one-fourth going to the United Kingdom. Of wine, the exports rose from 234,000,000 francs, or 9,360,000/. in 1866, to 245,000,000 francs, or 9,800,000 in 1868 ; the value of the quantities shipped to the United King- dom amounting, in 1866, to 1,456,060/., in 1867 to 1,497,917/. and in 1868 to 1,875,881/.

The subjoined tabular statement shows the real, or declared value, in pounds sterling, of the total exports sent from France to Great Britain and Ireland, and of the total imports of British and Irish produce and manufactures into France, in each of the ten years, beginning 1860 and ending 1869: —
