Mahendra Singh, Rai Bahadur (1908); b. 1874; educ: Colvin Taluqdar’s School, Lucknow; claims descent from Sipah Salar, an officer in the army of Emperor Akbar, who had received the reward of a Sword of Honour and the title of Chaudri of Bangarman; is a Durbarri of the U.P., and owns 19 villages and 4 patties in the district of Unas. Malgandadeva Mudaliar, Arcot, Rao Bahadur, (1901), Bangalore; 2nd s. of Munisamy Mudaliar and nephew of late Rai Bahadur Dharmaratnakara Arcot Narayanaswami Mudaliar; b. 1862; educ: privately; joined the business of his uncle and showed much skill and became Manager of the whole business; m. Sivagagai Ammal, 18S1; wife died. 1893; built a Gosha Hospital on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee and in memory of his wife; was instrumental in establishing the Bangalore Social Club and in locating the Theosophical Society there; was a Municipal Commissioner, Bangalore, for many years and has been a special Magistrate; is Director and Chairman, Mysore Fruit Syndicate; Chairman, Mysore Tannery Co., Ltd.; Director, Bangalore Woollen and Silk Mills Co., Ltd.; Director, Bangalore Bank, Ltd.; President, Hindu Widows’ Pension Fund.
