Rajaram Sitaram Dikshit, Rao Bahadur (1898): b. 1849; worked in the famine of 1897; owns two villages and has built a Dharamsala and a public library; Honorary Magistrate, Nagpur; Member, Nagpur Municipality; Managing Director of a Mill; and member of 3 school committees. (1900); b. 1839; joined service in the Madras Salt Dept., 1860; Head Sheristadar, Board of Revenue, Madras, 1862; Secretary to the Commissioner to the Revenue Settlement, and Director of Land Records and Agriculture, 1887; Inspector-General of Registration, Madras; Member, Madras Legislative Council, 1896-1900; retired, 1902; Honorary Fellow, Madras University; Vice-President, South Indian Association, Madras; Vice-President, National Fund and Industrial Association, Madras; President, Board of Trustees, Pachaiyappa’s Charities, Madras; interested in the industrial development of India. Rajendra Narayan Bhuja Deb, Hon’ble, Raja (1910); b. 1881; 2nd s. of late Raja Jadunath Deb of Aul; adopted into the Kanika family, 1890; educ: at the Ravenshaw Collegiate School and College, Cuttack; married the daughter of Nayagarh, 1899; well-known for benevolence and public spirit; maintains 4 charitable dispensaries, and several schools in his estate; constructed a female ward at the Cuttack General Hospital at a cost of Rs. 25,000; was an elected representative of the Orissa and Chhota Nagpur Landholders in the Bengal Legislative Council. Recreations: Shooting, Tennis, and Billiards. Address: Kanika, Orissa, India.

Rajeswara Mittra, B.A., A.M.I.C.E., K.I.H., Superintending Engineer, Jubbulpore; b. 1860; educ: Benares and Patna Colleges, and the Thomson Engineering College, Rurkee; passed B.A., 1880; passed the Engineering examination and won the Thomson prize, 1888; joined service as Assistant Engineer, 1883; worked in the Ajmere division and also on military works and roads in Rajaputana; transferred to eastern division, Central Provinces; appointed Under Secretary to Chief Commissioner, 1900; confirmed as Superintending Engineer, 1908; awarded K.I.H (2nd class), 1902; thanked by Government, 1894-1898; specially thanked for work during famine, by Sir A. Fraser; Chief Commissioner, Central Provinces; invited and awarded the Durbar Medal, 1903. Address: Jubbulpore, C.P., India.

Rale, Waman Ganesh, Rai Bahadur, Administrator, Akalkot State; b. 1857; educ: at Ahmednagar; entered Government service and served in the Revenue, Judicial, Irrigation, and Political departments; specially deputed to suppress Bhil riots in Ahmednagar, 1900; also in Khandesh, 1901; introduced the “Block system” on the Nia Canal, 1904; administered the State of Akalkot during the minority of the Raja.
