Rawin, Chief of; Kidar Singh Thakur, succeeded to estate, 1905; claims the same descent as the family of Jubbal; enjoys full powers but sentence of death requires confimation by Superintendant, Simla Hill States; area of the State, 7 sq. miles; population, 900; revenue, Rs. 35,0OO. Rawling, Cecil Godfrey, C.I.E. (1909); F.R.G.S., Captain of Somerset Light Infantry; b. 1870 s. of late S. B. Rawling of Beaumont; educ: Clifton College; Joined service in the army, 1891 became Captain, 1901; served N.-W. Frontier, India, won medal with clasp 1897-98; Tibet Mission (medal with clasp), 1904; explored and surveyed 40,000 sq. miles of Western Tibet, 1903; Commanded the Gartok expedition across Tibet, 1904-5; awarded the Murchison Bequest by the Royal Geographical Society, 1909; Chief Survey Officer, British Expedition to Dutch New Guinea, 1913. Rawlins, Thomas William, I.C.S., (retired); educ: Clare College; passed the I.C.S. examination, 1860; joined service and arrived in India, 1863; posted to N.W.P. where he served as Assistant Magistrate and Collector, etc.; became Judge of the Court of Small Causes, Allahabad, 1872; transferred to Government of India service (Financial branch), 1877; Accountant-General and Deputy Commissioner of Paper Currency, Punjab, 1880; Accountant-General, Madras, 1888; retired, 1896.
