Sharafarez.

Sharafarez Ali Khan, Nawab Syed, Jagirdar, Hyderabad; b. Hijra 1273; educ: privately in Arabic, Persian and English; pupil of the famous poets the late Mir Hins and Mir Urs; a good Persian and Urdu poet; married in the family of the Nawab of Banganapalle, and got a dowry of Rs. 12,000. Publications: Rahan-i-gam; Fert-Gam. Address: Hyderabad (Deccan).

Sharfuddin, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Syed, Bar-at-Law, Judge, High Court, Calcutta; s. of Syed Farzaudlli of Chupra; b. at Neora, 1856; educ: at the Patna College; joined the Bar, 1880; practiced at Patna, Bihar and Calcutta; Fellow, Calcutta University; represented the Bihar Landholders’ Association in the Bengal Legislative Council, 1905; President, All-India Mahomedan Educational Conference, 1906. (1900), Secretary to the Government of India, Educational Department; b. 1869; s. of late Henry Sharp, educ: Rugby, New College, Oxford; entered Indian Educational Service as Inspector of Schools, Central Provinces, 1894; Principal, High School, Jubbalpore, 1894; Relief Officer during the famines of 1897 and 1900; Director of Public Instruction, Eastern Bengal and Assam, 1906-10; Member, Imperial Legislative Council since 1910. Missionary, 1864-70; Principal, Noble College, Masulipatam, 1865-78; Curate in charge of Langton, 1870-72; first University Lecturer in Telugu and Tamil, Cambridge, 1878-80; Secretary, British and Foreign Bible Society, London, 1880-1900; Sunday Evening Lecturer, St. Catharine Cree, 1881-89; Editorial Superintendent of the Holy Scriptures, and Consulting Secretary, British and Foreign Bible Society, 1900-08; Vice-President, British and Foreign Bible Society, 1908.
