Walsh, Langton Prendergast, C.I.E. (1890), Political Agent; b. 1856; s. of late Colonel T. P. B. Walsh of Laragh; educ: France, and Oxford; joined service in the Marine Postal Department, 1873; Bombay Political Department, 1879; attached to the Staff of Indian Division at Egypt, 1882; transferred to British Foreign Office, 1884; Consul, Berbera and Zeila, North-East Africa, 1884-92; raised Somali Coast Protectorate Police; operation against Zibril Abuker tribes, 1886; Assistant Political Resident, Kathiawar, Aden and Southern Mahratta territory; Political Agent, Sawantwadi, 1896-1903; retired, 1903. Address: Kirkconnel, Gunnersbury Avenue, Ealing, W. Club: Carlton, Conservative.

Walton, Frederick Thomas Granville, C.I.E. (1888), Chief Engineer; s. of late William Walton of Hampton, Middlesex; b. 1840; studied under Richard Johnson, the famous Engineer; Assistant Engineer in the construction of joining Cheshire Railways till 1860; Oudh and Rohilkand Railways, India, 1868-88; in charge of Ram Ganga River Bridge and Lines; in charge of Dufterin Bridge over the Ganges at Benares, 1881-87; elected M.I.C.E., 1886; Engineer-in-Chief, Oudh and Rohilkand Railways, 1889-96; Bridge construction over Godavari River, at Rajahmundry, 1896-1900; has also built the following other bridges:- Raingunga. Bareilly, Moradabad, and Kosi Rampur. m. Charlotte Eliza, 2nd d. of Sir Cusack Roney, 1877. Address: c/o Messrs. Grindlay and Co., 54, Parliament Street, S.W.

Warburton, John Paul, C.I.E. (1911), Indian Police Service (retired); s. of late Sardar Faiz Talab Khan Popalzzi Durani, and step-son of late Colonel Roberts Warburton, R.A.; b. 1840; joined service in the Police Department, Punjab, 1864; became Superintendents 1873; Assistant Inspector-General of Railway Police, 1894; retired, 1900; joined service in the Patiala State as Inspector-General of Police, and Member of State Council, 1900; remained, in State service till 1910; granted 1,080 acres of land as a reward for good services rendered to the State of Patiala; m. Mary, d. of John Waynian, 1863. Address: Gilbert House, Kasauli, Punjab.

Ward, Major-General Francis William, C.B., (1894), Commandant; s. of late John Ward; b. 1840; educ: Addiscombe; entered Bengal Artillery, 1857; served in Indian Mutiny, 1857-58; N.W. Frontier of India Campaign. 1863-64; Afghan War, 1879-80; Colonel on Staff Commanding the Royal Artillery, Punjab; became Major-General, 1895; Colonel Commandant, 1902; m. 1862, Alice, d. of late General S.
