TUESDAY, JULY 24, I787. JOURNAL Tuesday July 24th It was moved and seconded to strike the following words out of the resolution respecting the supreme Executive namel 7 "by electors appointed for that purpose by the Leg- "islatures of the States" and to insert the words "by the national Legislature" which passed in the affirmative. [Ayes- 7; noes- 4.] It was moved and seconded to strike out the word "six" and to insert the word "fifteen." It was moved and seconded to postpone the consideration of the resolution respecting the Executive which passed in the negative [Ayes--4; noes- 6; divided- ?.] It was moved and seconded to agree to the following resolu- tion namely. Resolved that the supreme Executive shall be chosen every years by Electors to be taken by lot from the national Legislature; the Electors to proceed immediately to the choice of the Executive, and not to separate until it be made The question of Order being taken on the last Motion- it was determined that the motion is in order. [Ayes--7; noes -- 4.] ? On the question to postpone the consideration of the resolu- tion, it passed unanimously in the affirmative The House then produced to ballot for the Committee of detail when the honorable Mr Rutledge, Mr Randolph, Mr Gorham, Mr Elsworth, and Mr Wilson were chosen l Vote ?7, Detail of Ayes and Noes, which notes that the motion under con- slderatlon was "Mr. Wilson's ". 97
