CVIII. ·—A.n Act making an Appr0prvJat£an_)’i>r completing the Pubhh Buildings of Feb, 17, 1g5g_ Oregon Territory, and Minnesota. —... Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the sum of sixty-seven thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, granted and appropriated, Appropriation out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, to defray the expenses fg"g’“S‘°0l;g'lg; of completing the public buildings in the Territory of Oregon, which are ,,,51 Mgumoé, now commenced and partially completed. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That of the said sum of sixty-seven thousand dollars the sum of forty thousand dollars shall be expended, Howmbe exaccording to the provisions of the act of the legislative assembly relating P°'*d°d· to the public buildings of the territory, in completing the penitentiary; and the sum of twenty-seven thousand dollars shall be expended, accord-; ing to the provisions of said act, in completing the state·house, or house` for the meeting of the legislative assembly: Provided, The commissioners Pmviso. elected to superintend the erection of said buildings shall cause the said money to be so expended as to insure the completion of said buildings without additional expen e to the United States. Sec. 3. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Post, p· 673- States of rlmerica in Congress assembled, That all the land lying south of the fourth standard parallel, in the Territory of Oregon, be, and the Adciitionulland same is hereby, created a. new land district, 1.0 be called the Umpqua. dis- g;tf"°° m °’°‘ trict; the land-office for which shall be established at such place within said district as the President shall from time to time direct, and the officers for which shall be appointed in the same manner, and have the compensation, powers, duties, obligations and responsibilities, that are prescribed von. x.
