PART D—GENERAL PROVISIONS SEC. 6301. DEFINITIONS.

Except as otherwise provided, for the purpose of this Act the terms used in this Act have the meanings provided under section 1471 of chapter 1 of title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965. SEC. 6302. BUDGET ACT PROVISION.

Any new spending authority (within the meaning of section 401 of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974) which is provided under this Act shall be effective for any fiscal year only to the extent or in such amounts as are provided in appropriation Acts. SEC. 6303. EFFECTIVE DATES.

(a) GENERAL RULE.—Except as otherwise provided, this Act and the amendments made by this Act shall take effect July 1, 1988. (b) SPECIAL RULES.—(1) Any provision of this Act or any amendment made by this Act which authorizes appropriations for fiscal year 1988 shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act. (2) The provisions of section 2402, relating to the National Center for Vocational Research, shall take effect on April 10, 1988. (3) The amendments made by section 3403 shall take effect for assessments made after September 30, 1989, with respect to State data. Approved AprU 28, 1988.
