"§ 424. Disclosure of organizational and personnel information: exemption for Defense Intelligence Agency "(a) Except as required by the President or as provided in subsection (b), the Secretary of Defense may not be required to disclose information with respect to— "(1) the organization or any function of the Defense Intelligence Agency; or "(2) the number of persons employed by or assigned or detailed to such Agency or the name, official title, occupational series, grade, or salary of any such person. "(b) This section does not apply— "(1) with respect to the provision of information to Congress; or "(2) with respect to information required to be disclosed by section 552 or 552a of title 5.". (b) The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 21 of such title is amended by adding at the end the following new item: "424. Disclosure of organizational and personnel information: exemption for Defense Intelligence Agency.". DEFENSE ATTACH^ DEATH GRATUITY

SEC. 704. (a) During fiscal year 1989, the Secretary of Defense may pay a death gratuity identical to that payable under section 1489(b) of title 10, United States Code, to the surviving dependents of a member of the Armed Forces who, while serving on active duty assigned to a Defense attache office outside the United States, died as a result of hostile or terrorist activities. (b) The death gratuity referred to in subsection (a) may be paid with respect to an individual who died on or after June 15, 1988. (c) The Secretary of Defense shall submit to 0)ngress no later than March 1, 1989, a report concerning the advisability of permanent law permitting the payment of death gratuities to the survivors of any member of the armed services who, while on active duty assigned to a Defense attache office outside the United States, dies as a result of hostile or terrorist activities.
