Joint Resolution Designating November 28 through December 2, 1988, as "Vocational-Technical Education Week".

Whereas vocational education prepares the Nation's work force by providing students with basic academic and occupational skills; Whereas vocational education stresses the importance of positive work attitudes and values; Whereas vocational education builds the leadership skills of students by encouraging them to participate in student organizations; Whereas vocational education stimulates the growth and vitality of the Nation's businesses and industries by preparing workers for the majority of occupations forecasted to experience the largest and fastest growth in the next decade; Whereas vocational education encourages entrepreneurship among students through units of study and courses designed to prepare them to start and manage their own businesses; Whereas a strong vocational education program planned and carried out by trained vocational educators is vital to the future economic development of the Nation and to the well-being of its citizens; Whereas the Future Business Leaders of America, the Future Homemakers of America and Home Economics Related Occupations, the Future Farmers of America, the Distributive Education Clubs of America, the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, the American Industrial Arts Student Association, the Health Occupation Students of America, the National Association of State Councils on Vocational Education, and the American Vocational Association have joined efforts to give added definition to vocational education; Whereas the American Vocational Association, the major professional association for the field of vocational education, will convene its annual convention in St. Louis, Missouri, on December 2, 1988; and Whereas the planned theme for Vocational-Technical Education Week is "Vocational Education: Building Tomorrow's Leaders": Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 'That November 28 through December 2, 1988, is designated as "Vocational-Technical Education Week", and the President is authorized and requested to issue a
