CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS—AUG. 5, 1989 103 STAT. 2561 SEC. 2. The Majority Leader of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, acting jointly after consultation with the Minority Leader of the Senate and the Minority Leader of the House, shall notify the Members of the Senate and the House, respectively, to reassemble whenever, in their opinion, the public interest shall warrant it. Agreed to June 23, 1989. ADJOURNMENT PROVISIONS—HOUSE OF Juiy3i,1989 REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATE [H con. Res. i79] Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That notwithstanding the provisions of section 132(a) of the Legisla- tive Reorganization Act of 1946 (2 U.S.C. 198), as amended by section 461 of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1970 (Public Law 91- 510; 84 Stat. 1193), the House of Representatives and the Senate shall not adjourn for a period in excess of three days, or adjourn sine die, until both Houses of Congress have adopted a concurrent resolu- tion providing either for an adjournment (in excess of three days) to a day certain or for adjournment sine die. Agreed to July 31, 1989. ADJOURNMENT—SENATE AND HOUSE OF Aug.5, 1989 REPRESENTATIVES [S. Con. Res. 67] Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), That when the Senate recesses or adjourns at the close of business on Friday, August 4, 1989, or Saturday, August 5, 1989, pursuant to a motion made by the Majority Leader, or his designee, in accord- ance with this resolution, it stand recessed or adjourned until 12 o'clock noon on Wednesday, September 6, 1989, or until 12 o'clock noon on the second day after Members are notified to reassemble pursuant to section 2 of this resolution, whichever occurs first; and that when the House adjourns on Friday, August 4, 1989, or Satur- day, August 5, 1989, pursuant to a motion made by the Majority Leader, or his designee, in accordance with this resolution, it stand adjourned until 12 o'clock noon on Wednesday, September 6, 1989, or until 12 o'clock noon on the second day after Members are ^ notified to reassemble pursuant to section 2 of this resolution, whichever occurs first.
