Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. EXCLUSIONS FROM FOOD STAMP INCOME. (a) IN GENERAL. —Section 5(d)(16) of the Food Stamp Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 2014(d)(16)) (as amended by section 903(3) of the Food, Agriculture, Conservation, and Trade Act Amendments of 1991 (Public Law 102-237)) is further amended by striking "section 1612a))(4)(B)(iv) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1382a(b)(4)(B)(iv))" and inserting "subparagraph (A)(iii) or (B)(iv) of section 1612(b)(4) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1382a(b)(4))". 7 USC 2014 note. (b) EFFECTIVE DATE. — (1) IN GENERAL.— The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on the earlier of— (A) December 13, 1991; (B) October 1, 1990, for food stamp households for which the State agenw knew, or had notice, that a member of the household had a plan for achieving self-support as provided under section 1612(b)(4)(A)(iii) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1382a(b)(4)(A)(iii)); or (C) beginning on the date that a fair hearing was requested under the Food Stamp Act of 1977 (7 U.S.C. 2011 et seq.) contesting the denial of an exclusion for food stamp purposes for amounts necessary for the fulfillment of such a plan for achieving self-support.
