Subtitle C—Authorization of Appropriations Sec. 421. Authorization of appropriations for military personnel. Subtitle A—Active Forces SEC. 401. END STRENGTHS FOR ACTIVE FORCES. 10 USC 115 note. The Armed Forces are authorized strengths for active duty personnel as of September 30, 2000, as follows: (1) The Army, 480,000. (2) The Navy, 372,037. (3) The Marine Corps, 172,518. (4) The Air Force, 360,877. SEC. 402. REVISION IN PERMANENT END STRENGTH MINIMUM LEVELS. (a) REVISED END STRENGTH FLOORS.— Section 691(b) of title 10, United States Code, is amended— (1) in paragraph (2), by striking "372,696" and inserting "3 71,781"; (2) in paragraph (3), by striking "172,200" and inserting "172,148"; and (3) in paragraph (4), by striking "370,802" and inserting "360,877". (b) EFFECTIVE DATE. —The amendments made by subsection 10 USC 691 note, (a) shall take effect on October 1, 1999. Subtitle B—Reserve Forces SEC. 411. END STRENGTHS FOR SELECTED RESERVE. 10 USC 12001 (a) IN GENERAL.— The Armed Forces are authorized strengths for Selected Reserve personnel of the reserve components as of September 30, 2000, as follows: (1) The Army National Guard of the United States, 350,000. (2) The Army Reserve, 205,000. (3) The Naval Reserve, 90,288. (4) The Marine Corps Reserve, 39,624. (5) The Air National Guard of the United States, 106,678. (6) The Air Force Reserve, 73,708. (7) The Coast Guard Reserve, 8,000. (b) ADJUSTMENTS.—The end strengths prescribed by subsection (a) for the Selected Reserve of any reserve component shall be proportionately reduced by— 69-194-01-20:QL3Part 1
