Mach 8.186% Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States m" America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Inte- William H- rinr be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to pay, out of any §°;gi§9p;g"&°"t balance of appropriations for wagon-roads under his control, eight thousand l l one hundred and ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents, being the amount reported by him, under the second section of the army appr0priation act, approved March second, eighteen hundred and sixty-one, to be due to 1Villiam H. Nobles, late Superintendent of the F ori: Ridgely and South Pass Wagon Road. Approved, March 8, 1862. [No. 31.] A Resolution in Relation to the Claim of Marshall O. Roberts for the Loss of May 20, 1862. the Steamer “Star o/`the We.st." -—————-———- Whereas the Secretary of War has declined to act upon a claim of Mai-sha11C. Marshall O. Roberts for compensation for the loss of the steamship “Star F°b°"“vP”‘Y“‘°“l· of the 1Vest," while in the service and under the direction of the United O` States, upon the ground that before his appointment as Secretary of War he had been consulted as counsel in the case: Therefore- Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the said claim be referred to the Attorney General, with authority to act upon the same in the same manner as the Secretary of War could have done had he not been consulted as counsel in the case, and that such sum as shall be ascertained to be due, if any, be paid in the same manner as if the same had been allowed by the Secretary of War, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
