‘SEC. 37 . COORDINATION OF DISASTER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS WITH FEMA. ‘ ‘(a) C O O RDINAT ION REQU IRED.—The Administrator shall ensure that the disaster assistance p rograms of the Administration are coordinated , to the ma x imum extent practicable, with the disaster assistance programs of the F ederal E mergency M anagement Agency. ‘‘(b) RE G U L ATION S REQUIRED.—The Administrator, in consulta - tion with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, shall establish regulations to ensure that each application for disaster assistance is submitted as quic k ly as practicable to the Administration or directed to the appropriate agency under the circumstances. ‘‘(c) CO MP LETION; RE V ISION.—The initial regulations shall be completed not later than 27 0 days after the date of the enactment of the Small Business D isaster Response and L oan I mpro v ements Act of 200 8 . Thereafter, the regulations shall be revised on an annual basis. ‘‘(d) REPORT.—The Administrator shall include a report on the regulations whenever the Administration submits the report required by section 43. ’ ’. SEC. 12063. P UBL IC AWARENESS OF DISASTER DECLARATION AND APPLICATION PERIODS. (a) IN G ENERAL.—Section 7(b) of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 636(b)) is amended by inserting immediately after paragraph (3), the following: ‘‘(4) COORDINATION W IT HF EMA.— ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.— N otwithstanding any other provi- sion of law, for any disaster declared under this subsection or ma j or disaster (including any major disaster relating to which the Administrator declares eligibility for addi- tional disaster assistance under paragraph ( 9 )), the Administrator, in consultation with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, shall ensure, to the maximum extent practicable, that all application periods for disaster relief under this Act correspond with application deadlines established under the Robert T. Staf- ford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.), or as extended by the P resident. ‘‘(B) DEADLINES.—Notwithstanding any other provision of law, not later than 10 days before the closing date of an application period for a major disaster (including any major disaster relating to which the Administrator declares eligibility for additional disaster assistance under paragraph (9)), the Administrator, in consultation with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, shall submit to the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship of the Senate and the Committee on Small Business of the H ouse of Representatives a report that includes— Reports.D e adlin e. 15USC6 5 7 i. 15USC6 3 1 note.
