(a)RESCI SSI ON O FPR IOR BA SIC PA YADJU S TM ENT .—The a djust-m e n t made as ofJ anua ry1,20 0 8 , p ursuant to se c t i on 4 of Ex ecuti v e O rder N o.1 3 4 5 4 (issued January 4, 2008), in e l ements of compensa- tion of mem b ers of the uniformed services pursuant to section 100 9 of title 3 7 , U nited S tates C ode, is hereby rescinded in order to permit the 3.5 percent increase in monthly basic pay for members of the uniformed services re q uired by subsection (b) to ta k e effect as intended. (b) I NCREASE IN BASIC PAY.—Effective as of January 1, 2008, the rates of monthly basic pay for members of the uniformed serv- ices are increased by 3.5 percent. SEC. 602. BASIC ALL OW ANCE FOR H O U SIN G FOR RESER V E COMPO - NENT MEMBERS WITHOUT D EPENDENTS WHO ATTEND ACCESSION TRAINING WHILE MAINTAINING A PRIMARY RESIDENCE. (a) A V AI L A B ILITY OF ALLO W ANCE.—Section 403( g )(1) of title 37, United States Code, is amended— (1) by inserting ‘ ‘to attend accession training, ’ ’ after ‘‘active duty’’ the first place it appears
and (2) by inserting a comma after ‘‘contingency operation’’ the first place it appears. (b) EFFECTIVE D ATE.—The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply w ith respect to months beginning on or after the date of the enactment of this Act. SEC. 60 3 .E X TENSION AND ENHANCEMENT OF AUTHORITY FOR TEM- PORARY LODGING EXPENSES FOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES IN AREAS SUB J ECT TO MAJOR DISASTER DECLARATION OR FOR INSTALLATIONS EXPERIENCING SUDDEN INCREASE IN PERSONNEL LEVELS. (a) M A X IMUM PERIOD OF RECEI P T OF EXPENSES.—Section 404a(c)(3) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking ‘‘20 days’’ and inserting ‘‘ 6 0 days’’. (b) EXTENSION OF AUT H ORITY FOR INCREASE IN CERTAIN BA H .— Section 403(b)(7)(E) of such title is amended by striking ‘‘December 31, 2008’’ and inserting ‘‘December 31, 2009’’. SEC. 60 4 .
