( B ) a description of the methodolog y to be used under the pilot program to ensure rapid identification under such pilot program of revised or improved practices under the disability evaluation system in order to achieve the objec - tives set forth in subsection (c)( 1 ); and ( C ) a statement of any provision described in subsection (e)(1)(B) that w ill not apply to the pilot program by reason of a waiver under that subsection. ( 2 ) INTERIM RE PO RT.— N ot later than 1 80 days after the date of the submittal of the report re q uired by paragraph (1) with respect to a pilot program , the S ecretary shall submit to the appropriate committees of Congress a report describing the current status of the pilot program. ( 3 ) F IN AL REPORT.—Not later than 9 0 days after the comple- tion of all of the pilot programs conducted under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the appropriate committees of Congress a report setting forth a final evaluation and assess- ment of the pilot programs. The report shall include such recommendations for legislative or administrative action as the Secretary considers appropriate in light of such pilot programs. SEC.1645 . R E PO R T SO NA R MY ACT I ONP L AN IN RESPONSE TO D E F I - CIENCIES IN T H E ARMY PHYSICAL DISA B ILITY E V AL U A- TION SYSTEM. (a) R EPORT S RE QU IRE D .—Not later than J une 1, 2008, and June 1, 2009, the Secretary of D efense shall submit to the congres- sional defense committees a report on the implementation of correc- tive measures by the Department of Defense with respect to the P hysical Disability E valuation System (PDES) in response to the following
(1) The report of the Inspector G eneral of the Army on that system of M arch 6 , 200 7 . (2) The report of the Independent Review Group on Rehabilitation Care and Administrative Processes at W alter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center. (3) The report of the Department of V eterans Affairs Tas k Force on Returning Global War on Terror H eroes. (b) ELEMENTS O F REPORT.—Each report under subsection (a) shall include current information on the following: (1) The total number of cases, and the number of cases involving combat disabled service members, pending resolution before the Medical and Physical Disability Evaluation Boards of the Army, including information on the number of members of the Army who have been in a medical hold or holdover status for more than each of 100, 200, and 300 days. (2) The status of the implementation of modifications to disability evaluation processes of the Department of Defense in response to the following: (A) The report of the Inspector General on such proc- esses dated March 6, 2007. (B) The report of the Independent Review Group on Rehabilitation Care and Administrative Processes at
