Whereas the NAACP was prominent in lobbying for the passage of the Civil Rights Acts of 195 7 ,19 60 , and 196 4 , the V oting Rights Act of 1965, the F annie L ou H amer, Rosa Parks, and Coretta Scott K ing Voting Rights Act Reauthori z ation and Amendments Act of 2 006, and the Fair Housing Act, laws which ensured G overnment protection for legal victories achieved; Whereas in 2005, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People launched the D isaster Relief Fund to help survivors in Louisiana, Mississippi, T e x as, Florida, and Alabama to rebuild their lives; and Whereas in 2007, the NAACP was prominent in lobbying for the passage of H . Res. 8 26, ‘ ‘The Noose I ntimidation B ill ’ ’, which expresses ‘‘that the hanging of nooses is a horrible act when used for the purpose of intimidation and which under certain circumstances can be a criminal act that should be thoroughly investigated by Federal law enforcement authorities and that any criminal violations should be vigorously prosecuted’’

Now, therefore, be it Resolv e dbyth e H o u seo f Re pr ese n t a t i ves ( the S enate c oncur - rin g), That the Congress— ( 1 ) recognizes the 99th anniversary of the historic founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; and (2) honors and praises the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People on the occasion of its anniver - sary for its work to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic e q uality of all persons. R. 1593 Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That, in the enrollment of the bill H.R. 159 3 , the Clerk of the House of Representatives shall make the following corrections (with page and line numbers referring to the page and line numbers of the bill as engrossed in the House): (1) Page 17, strike line 21 through page 18, line 23 and insert the following: ‘‘(1) F ED E RALSH ARE.— ‘‘(A) I NG ENERAL.—The Federal share of a grant received under this section may not exceed 50 percent of the pro j ect funded under such grant. ‘‘(B) IN- KI ND CO N T RI BU TIONS.— ‘‘(i) IN GENERAL.—Subject to clause (ii), the recipient of a grant under this section may meet the matching requirement under subparagraph (A) by Mar.1 1 ,20 0 8[H .
