Vol. 15 4 (2008): Apr. 8, considered and passed House. ‘ ‘ (2)AD D IT I ONAL N EWB O R N C ONDITION .—Forpu rpo se so fthi ssu b se c tio n, the ter m ‘ ad ditiona l ne w born condition ’ means an y condition that is not one of the core conditions rec - ommended by the Ad v isory C ommittee and adopted by the S ecretary. ‘‘(b) F U NDIN G .— I n carryin g out the research program under this section, the Secretary and the D irector shall ensure that enti- ties receiving funding through the program will provide assurances, as practicable, that such entities will wor k in consultation with the appropriate State departments of health, and, as practicable, focus their research on screening technology not currently performed in the States in which the entities are located, and the conditions on the uniform screening panel (or the standard test e x isting on the uniform screening panel). ‘‘(c) R E P ORT S .— T he Director is encouraged to include informa- tion about the activities carried out under this section in the biennial report re q uired under section 403 of the N ational Institutes of H ealth Reform Act of 200 6 . If such information is included, the Director shall make such information available to be included on the Internet Clearinghouse established under section 1 112. ‘‘(d) NONDUPLICATION.—In carrying out programs under this section, the Secretary shall minimi z e duplication and supplement, not supplant, existing efforts of the type carried out under this section. ‘‘(e) P EER RE V IEW.—Nothing in this section shall be construed to interfere with the scientific peer-review process at the National Institutes of Health.’’.
