Oc‘r.` 21, 186]. 983 REGULATIONS For the Execution of the Postal Convention agreed upon between the Post J¤¤¤ 80 wi Departments of the United States and of the North German Union, on Jimy 22* IB"' the 21st of October, 1867. IN accordance with Article XIX. of the convention, concluded between the United States of America and the North German Union, on the 21st of October, 1867, the post-offices of the two countries have established the following regulations: — Smcriou I. Philadelphia. 4. Chicago. On the side of the North German Union,-- 1. The Travelling Post·Otiice No. 10, between Cologne and Verviers. 2. Bremen. 3. Hamburg. The mails shall be exchangeda. Between the Travelling Post-Oliice No. 10, Cologne, Verviers, and the post-office of New York, via England and Belgium. b. Between Bremen and New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, via direct line, Bremen, New York. c. Between Hamburg and New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, via direct line, Hamburg, New York. Snorron II. The sender of a registered letter is authorized to de~ _$¤¤d¢¤¤ <>¤¤- mand, by a notice on the address, that the receipt, undersigned by the gig? receiver, should be delivered to him. In this ($58, the subscribed receipt ceipt. shall be returned without delay to the exchange office whence the letter was despatched. There shall be no fee levied for the delivery of a receipt. The receipts shall be printed in German and English language, and shall be annexed lo the letters by the despatching exchange office. _ Snort0N III. Patterns or samples of merchandise exceeding the mY:;%h;;f,l°* weight of iitteen loths (eight and three fourths ounces) cannot be sent mmm_ X by mail to the North German Union. Letters weighing three loths (one and three fourths ounces) or more, if containing articles subject to customs duty, instead of writings, documents, or obligations, are, in like manner, excluded from the mails sent to the North German Union. SECTION IV. Each mail exchanged between the respective offices shall Letter l>iU¤· be accompanied by a letter bill, showing the postages, fees, &c. and the charges of transit accruing to each office upon the different kinds of correspondence. The form of this letter bill shall follow the models A and B, hereto F<>¤¤¤· annexed, and they shall be consecutively numbered by the despatching P,,,,, Pp_ ,86, office during each calendar year.
