Chap. XLIII.—An Act making further appropriations to complete the fortifications commenced for the security of the ports and harbors of the United States.
Appropriation.
[Obsolete.]Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That for the purpose of completing the fortifications commenced for the security of the ports, towns and harbors of the United States, and the territories thereof, there be, and hereby is appropriated the sum of one hundred and thirty-one thousand and forty-six dollars and thirty cents, to be paid out of any monies in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

Chap. XLIV.—An Act for allowing a reasonable compensation to the persons who have taken an account of the several manufacturing establishments and manufactures within the United States.

1810, ch. 38.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he hereby is authorized to allow such reasonable compensation as he shall deem adequate, for the services of each of those persons who took, under his direction, in pursuance of an act, entituled “An act further to alter and amend An act providing for the third census or enumeration of the inhabitants of the United States,” an account of the several manufacturing establishments and manufactures within their several districts: Provided however, that nothing herein contained shall authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to expend out of the fund already appropriated for taking the enumeration of the inhabitants of the United States, a sum exceeding thirty thousand dollars.

Chap. XLV.—An Act in addition to the act to regulate the laying out and making a road from Cumberland, in the state of Maryland, to the state of Ohio.[1]

1815, ch. 43.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in addition to the unexpended balance of the sum heretofore appropriated for laying out and making a road from Cumberland in the state of Maryland, to the state of Ohio, the sum of fifty thousand dollars be, and the same is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, and to be expended under the direction of the President of the United States, in making said road between Cumberland in the state of Maryland, and Brownsville in the state of Pennsylvania, commencing at Cumberland; which sum of fifty thousand dollars shall be replaced out of the fund reserved for laying out and making roads to the state of Ohio, by virtue of the seventh section of an act passed on the thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and two, entituled “An act to enable the people of the eastern division of the territory northwest of the river Ohio to form a constitution and state government, and for the admission of such state into the Union, on an equal footing with the original states, and for other purposes.”
President may permit deviations from courses heretofore run.Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the President of the United States be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered to permit such deviations from the courses run and established by the commissioners under the authority of “An act to regulate the laying out and making a road from Cumberland in the state of Maryland, to the state of Ohio,”
